About SkyTrace

SkyTrace is a certified RTF (Registered Training Facility) operating from Weston Executive Airport in Leixlip, Co Kildare, Republic of Ireland. The flight school was opened in 1998 by Capt Mike Edgeworth, corporate jet pilot and entrepreneur. The school was formed to meet the ever increasing need for quality Pilot Training Organisations in Ireland. Viktor Ostapenko, Advanced Aerobatics Instructor, world record holder and member of the Russian Space Agency test team was closely involved in SkyTrace in its start-up phase. It is the Dublin Training Centre for Pilot Training College which also specialises in Commercial Flight Training in Waterford, Ireland and Florida, USA.

SkyTrace is a sister company of The Pilot Training College.

Skytrace Flight Training

Ten years ago, SkyTrace operated one single engine Piper Arrow aircraft.

Since then, the fleet has gradually accumulated and now consists of brand new diesel powered Robin DR400 Single Engine Aircraft in addition to Piper Warrior PA28's.

The Chief Flying Instructor at SkyTrace is Capt Jeff Leonard, grandson of Weston Aerodrome founder Darby Kennedy. An aviation pioneer in Ireland, Darby founded Weston Aerodrome in 1938 and was also Chief Pilot at Aer Lingus from 1941. Jeff flew commercially with Ryanair before returning to Weston to take charge of all flight training activities at SkyTrace. Jeff is an accomplished commercial pilot and ground instructor who is also a qualified aircraft maintenance engineer.

Graduates from SkyTrace may continue their careers in a variety of ways. Recent graduates proceeded to our sister company, The Pilot Training College, to advance to commercial pilot level. Many other graduates on the other hand enjoy flying as a hobby and return regularly.
